Carry Me Across The Water

This was the story of a man's life told through a series of stories that jump back and forth between his childhood in Germany to present day.  He is now 78 years old and quite wealthy.  We learn about his life through flashbacks that are quite skillfully done.  There are the moments in his life of violence, tenderness, generosity, arrogance and love.

I enjoyed this book a great deal.  At first I thought it would be a World War II story.  But that was a small part of understanding August as a man.  Parts moved slowly but it gradually grabbed my attention.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
