A Week of Food

This week seems to have revolved around food.  Sunday we took a trip to the olive mill in Queen Creek.  Not only did we get to taste a number of delicious tapanades, we had a delicious lunch.  And we purchased some olives stuffed with asiago cheese to go along with the two tapanades.  We had to go into Phoenix on Monday so took advantage of the opportunity to have a hot dog at Teds.  These are my favorite hot dogs and some of you will remember that I bought some to take to Indy a couple of years ago.  Kerry fixed them for our welcome home party.

Monday night neighbors dropped by and we had bruschetta made with the tapanades spread on bagette slices, topped with fresh mozzerella cheese then put in the broiler until the cheese melts.  Very good.  Tuesday night we were invited to have lunch with Margaret and Erick and the twins.  Always our favorite place to spend an evening.  The twins were a bit cranky but still had smiles for Mimi and Papaw.  It's a riot to watch them walk now as they ignore anything in the way and either barrel on through or fall on their rears.  Margaret fixed a quiche with chicken, broccoli and mozzerella cheese.  Delicious.  The recipe was in the Winners cookbook from Indianapolis Junior League.  Love those Junior League cookbooks.

Wednesday night we satisfied our Mexican cravings with some of the best at Tia Rosa's.  The picture here is of Paige Lust holding her shrimp dish.  My chili rellano was the best I've ever tasted.  Diane, you need to come back and go with us again.  For lunch today we stopped by Goldman's deli and picked up sandwiches to take up to the Turpins.  Enough food for us all to eat another meal.  We had a great time visiting and catching up.  Margaret looked good.  We had so much fun we're going to do it again next week.

The other picture is of John cooking out tonight.  After hearing about all the bad weather all over the country, we feel fortunate that it is warm here.  After the sun begins to set a sweatshirt is needed but short sleeves worked all day.  Tomorrow I'm meeting a couple of women for lunch at the Paradise Cafe while John will entertain a friend of his.

Now to go for a hike to work off all these calories.

Note:  There was a delay in posting this as we have not been able to access any Google services through our wifi at the park.  Today I loaded up and am taking advantage of the library's wifi.  Thank goodness for public libraries!  Their services (and of course the free loan of books) are amazing.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
