On the road again

We broke the news to the twins. No more mimi and papaw for a few months.  Lily was fascinated with papaw's t-shirt and wasn't too worried about the news.  She had a number of big smiles for us. (Margaret pointed out that even strangers get the same big smile but I prefer to believe that the one for us is a little bigger.

Callum was a bit concerned.  As you can see from the picture he wanted more info.  Where were we going?  When would we be back?  Would we see his cousins?  Who would take care of him?  I reassured him the best I could.  He gave us a small smile but I think he was still a bit upset.  He asked to go to his room so he could have some alone time and ponder this news.

This morning we hitched up the trailer and had the usual shouting match - stop, turn left, turn right, what?, I can't hear you, etc.  Fortunately Paige and Dave came down to help and Dave quickly guided John out into the street so John could attach the sway bars. We were a little sad about leaving our Arizona home.  This is mixed with the eagerness to get back to Indy and our friends and families who are there.

We headed for Tucson and after an hour on the road, we were stopped by an accident that had occured. Here is a picture of one of the cars which had burned up.  Aparently they had 2 chopters arrive to carry the survivors and the deceased to town.  The road was closed for about an hour.  Some people turned around but pulling a trailer didn't give us an option.  So we waited it out.  Traffic around Tucson was a nightmare as usual.  We traveled about 5 miles per hour on the interstate going around the city.

Finally here we are at Willcox, AZ.  We always stay here at Grande Vista RV park as we travel to and fro.  If we weren't in such a hurry to get home for the graduation festivities, we'd spend a day or two.  But not this time.

The highway was a bit rough so we had one of the cabinets open and all my pans and some bottles were spread all over the trailer.  We've lost the knack for secure packing.  Also saw a woman walking two little weiner dogs.  Made me think of my friend Paige.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
