The Twins Visit Denver

We eagerly anticipated the weekend visit of Margaret and Erick and the twins.  We have loved being in Denver and were looking forward to sharing the experience.  It was with some trepidation though.  While Sue is gracious about turning over her home to visitors, we also didn't want to cause any damage to her stuff.  We worried about having toys for  the babies (20 mon.) to play with as well.  Our worries were for naught.  Lily quickly learned that some things were not to be touched.  She would walk by them and wag her little finger and say "don't touch", then walk on by.

Callum discovered that Sue had a small broom, about 3 feet long that was perfect size for him.  He spent a lot of time sweeping the floor.  Then his parents would give him a baby wipe and he wiped every surface in sight.  The railings on the balcony sparkle.  Lily loves shoes with a passion.  She loves everyones shoes and spent her time trying on our shoes, even Papaws cowboy boots.  What's even more amazing is that she can walk in those as well as her mother's flip flops.  She is her mother's child.  The other toy we weren't aware of were the silicon muffin cups I had.  They can be stacked, nested, wipes stuffed in them, folded, etc.  They were a big hit.  Then there is always the app on Papaw's iPhone which never fails to entertain.  I highly recommend the Duck, Duck Goose apps for toddlers.

While we made a quick stop at the Children's Museum and drove to Tiny Town (train wasn't running), the high lights for the twins were walks to the park, playing in the water in Stapleton town center, dipping their feet in a cold mountain stream and the many playgrounds we came across.

Our stop at Wynkoop Brewery was a fun experience for the adults. This is one of the older brewerys in Colorado.  It was also kid friendly so the twins were fine.  Another lunch was at a small place in Indian Hills called Sit and Bull.  While a bit of a dive, the food was delicious with made from scratch french fries.  It reminded us of the bar at Tortilla Flats.  The owners own property in Arizona and often vacation there.  They put us on the second floor where we had the room to ourselves.  Great for letting toddlers wander around.

We got rid of M&E a couple of times so we could have the twins all to ourselves.  Such fun.  Whether reading to them or just watching them play, we had fun.

Now just a few days and we'll be in Arizona.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
