A Newlywed test

Picture this:  You fall in love with the woman of your dreams.  You ask her to marry you.  You are willing to take the 2 teenagers into your life as she agrees to also take your slightly older children into her life.  So you make the plans for a romantic wedding on the beach in Florida.  Plans move ahead.  Then the shoe drops.  She informs you that you will be coming home from that wedding to a home that includes your in-laws.  Her parents are moving in!

That isn't exactly what happened.  But Amy's new husband has passed the test with flying colors.  She and I knew it would work but the men weren't so sure.  I think (and hope I can speak for her John as well) that we have all enjoyed our summer together.  We leave for Denver on Friday and it is with regret.  I've enjoyed having a full kitchen to use in planning and cooking meals.  Amy has enjoyed having someone to share the cooking responsibilities with.  The two Johns are both mechanically minded and seem to work well on projects.  We have liked those early morning chats over a cup of coffee or sitting on the patio after dinner with a glass of wine.  It is similiar to when I moved in with Margaret and Erick when the twins were born.  I have a new appreciation of both my sons-in-law after being around them on a daily basis.

The kids liked having another option when looking for a ride.  We loved the opportunity to be close to our grandchildren.  When they are teenagers you take what ever moments you can get.

But, as usual, we are looking forward to new experiences and I'm sure the newlyweds will enjoy having some space back.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
