Ellis Kansas

This top picture is a shot of the 'charming' RV park we stayed in at Liberal, Kansas.   It was to be an uneventful day.  However as we reached Wakeeney, Kansas we had a flat tire on the trailer.  Fortunately we were close to a service station and they called the co-op to come and change it.  As John and the man investigated further, all four tires were showing heavy signs of wear.  Apparently both axles were slightly bent.  We're assuming it happened last spring when we were camped in Ellis and the tornado went through.  The trailer jacks on the front were bent.  At the time we thought that was the only
damage.  Now we think that was when the axle's were bent.  And that was the cause of the two flat tires last fall on our way to Arizona.

The bottom picture is where we are now in Ellis, Kansas.  It's a relaxing place to stay.  The railroad museum is the only attraction in Ellis but Hays, Kansas is only 13 miles away and has some interesting sights.

I finished reading White Tiger today.  It won the Man Booker Prize last year.  A black comedy set in India.

I then started reading Black Rain which I had started some time ago.  I'm not sure I can finish it.   It is very depressing.

Jane,

Just thought, you might like to read the book BLACK ELK SPEAKS by John Gneisenau Niehardt.

John has read it. And since it was often quoted in the book Blue Highways that I recently read, I've been wanting to read it as well.

LeRoy and Jacky live in Wakeeny and I think Em and Glenda are close to Hays.
Sorry to hear about the troubles. Can they straighten the axels?
Maybe you should have left the trailer here.

The guy at the co-op said "of course, everyone knows LeRoy". Em and Glenda are from my home town of Plainville.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
