Man Booker Prize Winner 1970

I've been carrying this book around for quite a while.  The Elected Member by Bernice Rubins.  According to a review I read it was no longer relevant and not that interesting.  But I'm determined to continue with my project of reading all the Booker prize winners in order.  So the day finally came and I forced myself to read it.  Why or why did I pay any attention to this one reviewer.  This was an excellent book, well-written about drug addiction. It was an intense story about a complex family and the causes of Norman's addiction.  I felt it read as well now as it did in 1970. The book was not a feel-good book and the ending left a number of unanswered questions.  But it was one I couldn't put down.

I'm toying with the idea of reading some of the books on the short list for each year as I read the prize winner.  I wonder if I'll agree with the judges.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
