This week has been spent taking care of our granddaughter. She was sent home from day care because she was running a fever. So, nice folks that we are, we came in to babysit. The babysitting isn't so bad. Getting up at 6 am (yes, there really is a 6 am) is quite difficult. Our first morning we gulped down one coffee and skipped breakfast. After all M&E always have coffee and toast. We walked in the door to the news - no coffee, no bread. We alllllmost turned around and headed home. But one look at that sweet little girl and we capitulated, told Erick it really didn't matter, and the minute he left, I sped to MickieD's for sustenance. John stayed with the girl and counted the seconds until I returned.
Today I came in by myself. Things at home were getting bad. I was positive someone had stolen our kitchen countertop as I hadn't seen it for a while. Fortunately, John found it after he washed our complete inventory of dishes.
Lily is feeling good so we had a girls day out. Breakfast was fun when Mimi dropped some oatmeal on the high chair tray. It feels so good on the fingers (and on the face, and in the hair, etc). We don't watch much TV, instead preferring to listen to music. Lily is a good little dancer (now there's a sight for your imagination - a chubby 10 month old and a chubby old lady dancing to the toddler tunes). She took a nap but she always wakes up in time to watch The View with me. I am teaching her to ignore Elizabeth's political views as she is DEAD WRONG. Lily and I like Whoopie best although Joy cracks some good jokes occasionally.
The it's time for lunch and while she takes a nap, I began reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao which promises to be a good book. Forgot to mention that before her nap we read through about 10 of her books. She does love them.
After nap we check out Ellen to see what kind of silliness she's cooking up today. But Lily is cranky and so we turn off the TV. So I lay on the floor with her and we examine all the toys in her toybox.
A most satisfying day.
