More gardening

I took some pictures from the second story balcony of the front flower garden. The ginko tree is huge but it has one problem. It drops seeds all over and little trees sprout up. They are so clever about growing up in the middle of already established perennials. So they are quite good sized by the time we see them.

I'm in the process of pulling weeds and just tossing them on the brick paths running through the flower beds. Jake and Samantha (my oldest grandchildren) are coming over on Thursday to help. Since they aren't as comfortable knowing what weeds to pull, their job will be to dispose of the weeds. Jake cautioned me that I needed to hire them soon as minimum wage will soon be going up.

We moved some peony bushes to the front so that they would get more sun. They look a little sick now but hopefully they will perk up soon. The oak leaf hydrangea is ready to be trimmed.
A gardening expert told us once that perinneals go through 3 stages: first they sleep, then they creep and then they leap. The oak leafs are leaping big time.

The kids are also going to help spread mulch. Next weekend is the art fair in our neighborhood. 20,000 to 30,000 people will be walking the neighborhood in the two days. The fair takes place one block to the west of us and is 5 blocks long and expands to the side streets on either side of Talbott. Parking becomes a premium and we don't give up ours unless necessary. A number of people take this opportunity to stop in and say hello. So our goal is to get the front garden in decent shape.

About Me

We retired after years of being in the computer support business, Jane with Brulin Corp and John with Unisys. We tried tent camping but finally settled on RV living. While we are part timers now, we hope to move to becoming full-timers eventually. John works on his HO model of Ellis, KS UP railroad and Jane persues her search for used books to read and sell on Amazon. We winter in Apache Junction, AZ and summer in Indiana.
